Little Stone Towers
We construct our lives out of a million mundane moments, like building little stone towers. In depression and the dark, this is one person trying.

My name is Desmond Herzfelder, I am 20 years old, and my life has had many wonderful moments, and many dark ones. Having gone through depression from the ages of 12 to 15, I grew up with an intimate understanding of human struggle, and a persistent focus on trying to live a good and happy life.
Now, I would like to share the thoughts that have come from this reflective mindset and my experiences with life’s mortal coil.

I am a sophomore at Harvard and have worked extensively in the mental health field, including almost four years on a suicide hotline. I started mental health work in the years after my depression, and the work gave me a deeper understanding of the commonalities of human suffering.
Fun facts about me: My favorite thing is to hangout and party with friends. I love swimming in the ocean during the summer, I like walking outside, I really like coming up with stories like most people do when they’re kids, I am also an artist and used to be a musician.
